![]() That means it will be a water conductivity sensor, not the float level type. Out of curiosity I looked up the sensor part and from photos it just appears to have two pins sticking into the washer bottle. I can not make any guarantees it will work for you but if you want to give it a go, you are more than welcome to try it out. Note: You can follow my procedure (at your won risk) and try to fix it yourself (scroll down to post #10). Last but not least, stick with a VW approved washer fluid and dont use RainX! ![]() Cleaning it or replacing it will solve the "Top off washer fluid" warning light from staying on. Ultimately the root cause of the problem is your sensor and the film/residue left behind by this crappy washer fluid product. This was one of the solutions I came across in one of the forums (worked for me btw):īefore doing anything, I would recommend taking your car to the dealer and let them deal with the issue, especially if your car is still under warranty. So in short, if you are using it or plan on using it DONT!!!! Drain it out and go back to the blue stuff or better yet, use whatever VW recommends! This seems to be affecting all VW models (see links at the end of this post). I did a quick search to see if others were having any issues and sure enough the culprit was the washer fluid! Apparently the washer fluid coats the electrodes of your sensor rendering it inoperable. To my surprise after filling it up the sensor still showed that it was empty! Recently I had filled up my washer fluid with the new formula and all seemed fine until one day the top off washer fluid light came on. If you have been using this product, you will notice that the new formula has a dark clear orange color (as opposed to the original which was a lighter cloudy orange color). It seems that RainX recently changed their formula (the orange stuff). Just wanted to post this to all and any of you that might be using RainX "de-icer" & "all season" windows washer fluid in your cars.
